Toasted Brie & Fig Bites
Fig, brie and a little crunch. A warm fall snack for mahjong night, ready in about 20 minutes.

It’s mahjong night, so let’s make some melty toasted brie and fig bites for the ladies. They’re little baked sandwiches of brie, fig and greens with a crisp, cinnamon-kissed top. A perfect fall snack to pair with your favorite fall mat, and small enough to eat with one hand between turns.
You’ll need
Makes about 12 bites.
- 1 baguette, sliced into about 24 rounds
- 1 wheel of brie (about 8 oz)
- Fig spread (about ⅓ cup)
- A handful of microgreens
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Make it

Heat the oven to 375°F. Lay half the baguette slices on a baking sheet and top each one with a slice of brie.

Spread a little fig on each one and add a pinch of microgreens.

Stir the cinnamon into the olive oil in a shallow bowl.

Top each one with a second baguette slice and brush the tops with the cinnamon oil (or dip the slices in it first).

Bake 10 to 12 minutes, until golden and the brie is melty. Pile them on a cute board and serve warm.
Lady M’s tips
- Brie slices more neatly when it’s cold, straight from the fridge. Leave the rind on.
- No fig spread? No microgreens? Apricot jam, hot honey or arugula are lovely, too.
- Assemble them an hour ahead, then oil the tops and bake just before your friends arrive.
On my table
A pumpkin-shaped board makes these look extra festive. Serve them warm and piled high, with little napkins close by.
That’s it, and you’re ready for game night. Bird Bam Cheers! ...and happy mahj-ing!
