Poinsettia Cocktails

Cranberry, orange liqueur and bubbly. As pink and pretty as the flower, and made right in the glass.

Three pink poinsettia cocktails in flutes with floating cranberries and rosemary sprigs on a poinsettia mat, with ornaments and a rack of mahjong tiles

Okay, ladies, the poinsettia is the prettiest Christmas cocktail, and it’s made right in the glass. Cranberry, a little orange liqueur and bubbly, with a few cranberries and a sprig of rosemary.

You’ll need

Makes 1; one bottle of bubbly makes about 6. About 2 minutes.

  • 1 oz cranberry juice
  • ½ oz orange liqueur, like Cointreau or triple sec
  • 4 oz chilled prosecco or champagne
  • A few fresh cranberries and a small sprig of rosemary

Make it

Pour the cranberry juice into a flute.

  2. Illustration: a hand with pink nails pouring orange liqueur from a jigger into a flute of cranberry juice, an orange beside it

    Add the orange liqueur.

  3. Illustration: prosecco pouring from a bottle into a flute of pink poinsettia cocktail

    Top slowly with chilled prosecco.

Drop in a few cranberries, add a sprig of rosemary and serve.

Lady M’s tips

  • Freeze the cranberries and they keep the drinks cold.
  • For a mocktail, use sparkling white grape juice and skip the liqueur.
  • Pour the bubbly down the side of the glass so it doesn’t foam over.

On my table

Pink flutes on a gold tray, right next to the Merry & Bright mat.

That’s it, and you’re ready for game night. Bird Bam Cheers! ...and happy mahj-ing!
