Pear wedges wrapped in prosciutto with goat cheese, arugula and a drizzle of honey. No oven, ten minutes.

Pear wedges wrapped in prosciutto with goat cheese and arugula on a white platter on the A Pheasant Affair mat, with a rack of mahjong tiles and little pumpkins behind

It’s mahjong night, ladies, and these pear and prosciutto bites need no oven at all. Sweet pear, tangy goat cheese and salty prosciutto, finished with honey and a little pepper.

You’ll need

Makes 16. About 10 minutes.

  • 2 ripe but firm pears
  • 8 thin slices prosciutto, halved lengthwise
  • 4 oz goat cheese (or crumbled blue cheese)
  • A handful of baby arugula
  • Honey and cracked black pepper

Make it

  1. Illustration: a knife cutting a red pear into wedges on a wooden board

Cut each pear into 8 wedges and core them.

  2. Illustration: a small knife spreading goat cheese on red pear wedges on a wooden board

Spread a little goat cheese on each wedge and add a few arugula leaves.

  3. Illustration: hands wrapping a strip of prosciutto around a pear wedge with goat cheese and arugula, more wrapped wedges in a row

Wrap each one in a strip of prosciutto.

  4. Illustration: honey drizzling from a honey dipper over prosciutto-wrapped pear wedges with arugula on a wooden board

Drizzle with honey and finish with cracked pepper.

Lady M’s tips

  • Squeeze a little lemon on the pears if you make them ahead.
  • Red pears look prettiest.
  • Blue cheese gives them more bite.

On my table

Stand them on a white platter in rows, like a rack of tiles.

That’s it, and you’re ready for game night. Bird Bam Cheers! ...and happy mahj-ing!
