Fall Coffee Bar with Flavored Whipped Creams

Set out the coffee and three fall whipped creams, and let everyone top her own cup. Dessert and coffee, all at once, in about 15 minutes.

A wooden tray with mugs of coffee and three little bowls of fall flavored whipped cream, with cinnamon sticks and a cookie

It’s mahjong night, ladies, so let’s set up a fall coffee bar with flavored whipped creams. Everyone tops her own cup, so it’s dessert and coffee all at once.

You’ll need

Serves 12. About 15 minutes.

  • 3 cups cold heavy cream (1 cup for each flavor)
  • Powdered sugar
  • Maple syrup and cinnamon
  • Pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice
  • Pumpkin butter
  • Hot coffee, mugs, cinnamon sticks and cookies for dipping

Make it

  1. Illustration: whipping cream to peaks in a bowl

For maple cinnamon, whip 1 cup cream with 2 tbsp maple syrup and ½ tsp cinnamon.

  2. Illustration: adding pumpkin to cream in a mixing bowl

For pumpkin spice, whip 1 cup cream with 2 tbsp powdered sugar, 2 tbsp pumpkin puree and ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice.

  3. Illustration: folding pumpkin butter into whipped cream

For pumpkin butter, whip 1 cup cream with 2 tbsp powdered sugar, then fold in ¼ cup pumpkin butter.

  4. Illustration: a dollop of flavored whipped cream landing on a mug of coffee

Spoon them into little bowls beside a big pot of coffee, and let everyone top her own.

Lady M’s tips

  • Chill the bowl and beaters first.
  • Whip them up to a few hours ahead and keep them cold.
  • Stop at soft-to-stiff peaks so they don’t turn to butter.

On my table

Set the bar on a tray on the sideboard with little labels and a spoon for each cream.

That’s it, and you’re ready for game night. Bird Bam Cheers! ...and happy mahj-ing!
